Devearl Ramsey | "I am excited to be a part of the growth in the UK"

This week has been quite the spectacle in terms of arrivals and departures into and from the BBL. Rolling out the red carpet for a number of highly talented overseas players into the British brand of basketball. The Sheffield Sharks announced their own signing of Deveral Ramsey, who last played for the Stockton Kings of the G-League.

The 25-year old, out of Chatsworth, California spent his freshman year at Nevada before transferring to UC Santa Barbara to go on and play the rest of his collegiate career for the Gaucho’s before graduating in 2021. Averaging 8.8 ppg and 39.2% from the field, Deveral also went on to help UCSB make their 6th NCAA tournament appearance in the school's history.

Before playing in college, Ramsey attended Sierra Canyon High School and took home two gold medals with U16 and U17 Team USA sides in the FIBA World championships.

Sheffield look to strengthen their squad as we come into the toughest part of the season, games only increase in difficulty and the Sharks want to make sure they secure their play-off spot. The six foot guard will be a great addition to the team. A player with incredible handles which allows him to create his own shot off the dribble, his track record provening he’s a game winner and can offer experience and leadership on the floor. I am excited to be a part of the growth in the UK. I've seen highlights and I know a couple guys in the league so I know it’s going to be good competition only on a nightly basis.

What parts of your game can the Sheffield and British fans look forward to from you on the court?

They can look forward to watching me play with speed and playing great defence. I’m a high energy player who can create off the dribble and get everyone involved.

You have played high-school, college and professional basketball in California. How do you think you will cope moving from the east coast sunshine to the unpredictable British weather?

It’s definitely going to be a little different at first coming from Los Angeles. The weather is always pretty nice, but I will adjust quickly.

What are you most excited about coming over to the UK?

I’m mostly excited about playing here and just getting on the court. I think it makes it easier for me to adjust because everything is in English and I can read the signs and stuff in the store
